Nifedipine Extended-Release Tablets, USP (Procardia XL®)

Nifedipine extended-release tablets, USP, marketed under the brand name Procardia XL®, are a type of calcium channel blocker used primarily in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and certain types of chest pain known as angina pectoris.

Nifedipine works by relaxing and dilating the blood vessels, which helps to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow, thereby reducing the workload on the heart and decreasing the heart’s demand for oxygen. This action can also help prevent angina episodes by increasing the blood supply to the heart muscle.
