Norethindrone Acetate Tablets, USP

Norethindrone acetate tablets, USP, belong to a class of medications called progestins and are used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and oral contraception.

In hormone replacement therapy, norethindrone acetate is used to treat symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and night sweats. It is often prescribed along with estrogen therapy to help balance hormone levels in women who have undergone menopause.

As an oral contraceptive, norethindrone acetate is used as a progestin-only pill, also known as the mini-pill. It works by primarily thickening cervical mucus, inhibiting sperm movement, and altering the lining of the uterus to prevent the fertilization of an egg or the implantation of a fertilized egg.
