Leucovorin Calcium Tablets, USP

Leucovorin calcium tablets, USP, contain a form of the active compound folinic acid, which is a derivative of folic acid. Leucovorin is commonly used as a medication to diminish the toxic effects of folic acid antagonists, particularly methotrexate, a chemotherapy medication.

Leucovorin is often prescribed in combination with methotrexate to reduce the toxicity associated with methotrexate therapy. It helps rescue normal cells from the harmful effects of methotrexate while allowing cancer cells to remain sensitive to methotrexate’s anti-cancer effects.
